Erhard Goschala
Erhard Goschala came from the Sudetenland, studied pottery in Bürgel after the war and was already master at the age of 23. He moved in an old workshop for flowerpots in Meuselwitz in the early 1950s and produced there his own ceramics since then. In the following years he exhibited at the Leipzig Grassi Museum, at the Altenburger Lindenau Museum, in Gera and Erfurt. Numerous museums recorded his vessels in their collections. Throughout his life he remained connected to the Bauhaus tradition with symmetrical shapes and crystal glazes. However, the production of crystal glazes was problematic due to the lack of required raw materials in the GDR. Therefore, a engobe-sgrafitto decor is also typical for his work.
